Who am I?

Hello,

This is my opportunity to introduce myself to those who don’t know me and to perhaps quell a few fears and doubts about the way forward.

My initial background is as a Quantity Surveyor in private practice, moving on to Building and Land Surveying as the construction industry went through many changes in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. I thoroughly enjoyed working within the construction industry and feel honoured that I was personally involved in the development of many interesting projects throughout the South of England.

In the late 1980’s the UK went through one of its regular recessions, and I was fortunate enough to be offered a full time post lecturing in a local FE College, with some part time lecturing in University within the faculty of the Built Environment. Here I lectured in a wide range of subjects including Building and Land Surveying, Building Law, Building Economics, Planning, and Measurement, to name but a few.

I qualified as a Lecturer achieving the Certificate of Education in Further Education, the Diploma of Education in Higher Education, and the Practitioner Award in Key Skills. I also qualified as an Assessor and Internal Verifier by being awarded the TDLB Units 32, 33, and 34.

During the later end of the 1990’s I was approached to undertake research on satellite imagery and the mapping of land using this technology, later evolving into GPS as we now know it, with vehicle and personnel tracking, etc. For this work I gained a Masters Degree in Land Information Management and Mapping.

During the years 2003/4 I decided to take early retirement from lecturing, and instead ran a self study website providing online tuition in AutoCAD and 3d modelling, which was very successful.

I have a great deal of experience, and have always enjoyed working, within the learning environment, always taking a personal interest in my students and their welfare and development. I am now bringing this experience to assist those students who are trying to achieve a Diploma in Domestic or Commercial Energy Assessment, and further, to be available for help and assistance once the course is completed. The learning experience does not end once you have been awarded your Diploma, this is only the beginning.

We are all aware of the need to not only reduce our energy consumption, but to also reduce the enormous quantities of CO2 that we produce regularly on a daily basis. With the development of new technologies and the high cost of energy, your role will become more and more important over the succeeding years.

The industry is going through many changes with some positive instructions from the government and accordingly we are now providing support for the new Home Energy Advisor role. This, we believe, is the way forward for all Domestic Energy Assessors and will certainly improve the opportunities for the development of client portfolios.
